Meet Our Rabbit Herd!

Welcome to the heart of CityFolkGoinCountry, where every bunny has a name, a personality, and a purpose. We’re excited to introduce you to the incredible rabbits behind our breeding program—each one a vital part of our journey toward better genetics, health, and temperament in New Zealand Reds.

Meet Our Main Man: Chunky

Chunky is our primary breeding buck, and true to his name, he’s a thick, handsome New Zealand Red with a deep red coat and a bold, well-defined face. He’s lively, full of energy, and always ready to hop into action—sometimes literally.

An Exciting Experiment: The Outcross Line

In addition to our pure New Zealand Red lines, we’re experimenting with an outcross project aimed at improving genetics long-term. The stars of this project are:

When these two are paired, they’ll produce an all-black litter thanks to the dominant black gene. But this pairing is more than just a pretty color combination—it’s part of our plan to strengthen our red line.

We’ll be selecting the biggest and best 1–2 bunnies from this “Black Litter” to breed back into our pure Red lines. This will help us outcross the black gene and reintroduce fresh genetics to:

Boost litter size

Improve body size and conformation

Reinforce the rich red color that defines our herd


Outcrossing is a powerful tool for small herds, helping us maintain genetic health and avoid the downsides of too-tight line breeding.
